Reference Services Policy
Our trained Reference Services librarians are here to offer expertise in locating and accessing scholarly biomedical and clinical research. You can get reference help in person, by chat, email, or phone. One-on-one research consultations with a librarian (in person or virtually) are also available by appointment. Chat hours for our Ask a Librarian chat service can be found on our website.
Information and Research Support
We're happy to assist you:
- Find articles, books, and other information
- Develop effective search strategies for research projects and literature reviews
- Access library resources from off campus
- Learn how to use the library's resources and services, such as our catalog, databases, or mobile applications
- Access, manage, and cite your sources with citation management tools
- Use library-supported technology and tools
Most questions are answered within 1-2 business days. More complex inquiries may require more time and/or a follow-up consultation.
Service Scope
Reference and research support at UConn Health Sciences Library is designed to build research skills and facilitate access to reliable, high-quality information. These services do not include:
- Completing assignments, writing papers, or formatting citations
- Providing legal or financial advice
- Answering personal medical questions, interpreting test results, recommending medications, surgeries, or other treatments, or offering advice on specific health conditions
- Proofreading or editing manuscripts
- Aiding research outside of the health sciences
- Extensive technology support - please contact Academic Information Technology Services if you require technical support
